End of General Support for Aria Operations Management Packs by Broadcom | Octobre 2024

Management packs for Aria Operations are extensions you can load to monitor additional technologies such as servers, storage and applications in Operations. They talk to REST APIs to get the data.

Broadcom has announced in a release announcement that a good number (if not almost all…) management packs for Aria Operations are going end of general support on October 1st, 2024.

The management packs involved are:

  • vRealize Operations Management Pack for VMware Integrated OpenStack
  • vRealize Operations Federation Management Pack
  • VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for CloudHealth
  • VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Flowgate
  • VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Aria Hub
  • VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for VMware Smart Assurance
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Aria Operations for Apps
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for VMware Tanzu Application Service
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for NetApp FAS/AFF
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Microsoft SCOM
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Dell EMC OpenManage Enterprise
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for HPE OneView
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Cisco HyperFlex
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Dell EMC Isilon
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Dell EMC Unity
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Nagios XI
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Palo Alto Networks
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for SolarWinds NPM
  • Aria Operations Management Pack for Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Nutanix
  • VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Pure Storage FlashArray
  • VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Cohesity

There are some – like Dell OpenManage and HPE Oneview – that can be replaced by the partner’s own solution. For most of the others Broadcom points to the management pack builder. For some like NetApp FAS I still have questions since this was already community supported.

The management pack builder is a tool that was originally developed at Blue Medora to quickly develop management packs. You do not need to code, just run through some wizards. It is available as a free download on the marketplace. The documentation is here and an active community is here. You install it as an ova. You need access to the API documentation of the solution you are integrating. There are some tutorials on Youtube.

If you are looking for a management pack I suggest you check the marketplace first.

Did you build your own management pack or are you still looking for one? Let me know!
